Our Verdict: the only auction tour that turns nobody away

Its exclusions list is empty, and that is the whole argument. The cheaper group auction tour marks as unsuitable wheelchair users, guests with mobility impairments, guests over 70, vegetarians and anyone with a food allergy. This one is accessible for guests using wheelchairs or strollers, states that vegetarian and vegan guests are welcome — “we’ll help you find suitable ingredients together” — and welcomes children. If anyone in your party is in one of those groups, the $35 you save elsewhere buys a tour they cannot join.

It is 100% private, your own group up to 10, meeting at your hotel or Shijō-mae Station, and it takes last-minute bookings year-round — useful, because auction dates move around holidays.

Be clear on what the price excludes: breakfast, drinks, the taxi from your hotel (trains aren’t running at that hour) and the bus fare from Toyosu to Tsukiji. Their own advice is to stay in Toyosu, Tsukiji or Ginza to keep the taxi small. Budget for it rather than being surprised.
